Owner's Bio

Hello, my name is Ryan Haines and I am the owner/operator of Lake of the Woods Experience. I have been guiding for twelve years, ten of them on Lake of the Woods. I started guiding on Lake of the Woods when I was eighteen years old. After four years of guiding on the lake, I had the opportunity to guide for two seasons on Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories. I then returned to Lake of the Woods for one guide season before heading to British Columbia to attend university. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Fisheries Management from the University of Northern British Columbia, I returned to the area to work as a fisheries biologist for three years. However, I couldn't stay away from my true passion and took a leave to pursue guiding again. After two more seasons of guiding for resorts in the area, I started Lake of the Woods Experience to share my passion for the outdoors and love of Lake of the Woods with my guests.
